SIL in Practice: Technical Symposium with “Hot” Topics
"Functional safety” or SIL (safety integrity level)
- How can process technology systems be made safe using process control technology?
- What is lawful safety management that complies with all relevant standards?
- How must safety circuits consisting of a sensor, controller and actuator be evaluated?
You will find the right answers to these and many other questions on functional safety at the technical symposium "SIL in Practice". Experts from automation companies Endress+Hauser, HIMA, Pepperl+Fuchs and SAMSON as well as an expert from the TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH will demonstrate the best way of achieving the required level of system safety with reference to the universal architecture of a safety circuit.
The consultants will cover subjects such as the use of safe sensors, creating a user program that conforms to IEC 61508/11 and actuator system requirements. The specialist from the plant approval division of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH will provide information on the normative basis for risk reduction in processing plants and the limitations of the SIL inspection. Event attendees can broaden their knowledge of the subject using a demonstration model of a safety circuit.
The first technical symposium was held in October 2007. Four other events were organized across Germany shortly afterwards due to the high level of interest. The next road show is scheduled for February 11, 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany!
