Pepperl+Fuchs Acquires Optigraf Sheet Verification Technology

Vision sensors with new technology
On September 1st, 2009, Pepperl+Fuchs acquired from Optigraf AG (Switzerland: Mendrisio) all rights to the industrial vision technology for verifying the proper sheets to feed in post-press printing machinery. This contains the property and trademark rights, as well as use of the current industrial vision technology, its further development, and the implementation of additional vision sensing products.
Under the terms of the agreement, Pepperl+Fuchs will focus on the original equipment business with OEM customers and assume responsibility for hardware and software development. Optigraf will continue its activities in the retrofit business for end customers, and will exclusively use Pepperl+Fuchs' vision sensors.This new cooperation provides OEM machine manufacturers and retrofit end customers access to technologically advanced vision sensing solutions for optimum quality control.
With Optigraf technology, Pepperl+Fuchs is obtaining specific expertise in the area of industrial vision, and opening up valuable synergies for the expansion of its industrial vision portfolio in the graphics and printing industries. The retrofitting activities pursued by Optigraf represent an additional sales market for Pepperl+Fuchs vision sensors.
The partnership will be officially launched by both companies at the Birmingham IPEX fair in May 2010. At this event, a new line of vision sensors will be introduced.
